I had lovely little jaunt over to the other side of the world over the weekend. Though I had two agonizingly long layovers, one when I arrived in Amsterdam and the second in Dubai, my travels went smooth and yesterday I arrived in Mahe, Seychelles. Its presently 5 PM on Tuesday afternoon. At home in Wisconsin its 8 PM on Monday night. There is a gigantic time change. The Seychelles are 15 hours ahead!
I’m pleased to say my entire Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures hosted Farquhar Atoll group has arrived as well. There’s Jeff Smith, David Boyd, T.J. Rung, Michael Lodge, Michael Williams, Steve Rose, Steve Goble and Caio. Caio is a guest of Jeff Smith and a peacock bass guide from the Amazon. Not only is this Caio’s first time out of Brazil in his life, flying over here was his first time on an airplane!
Though most of us arrived yesterday we could have in fact arrived today and caught our charter to Farquhar tomorrow. However in my opinion, that’s risky. The charter flight goes once a week. If you miss it your out of luck. Any sort of flight delay could cost you your whole trip. For me that makes my flights too stressful and most of my group feels the same way. So today, because we all made it, turned into a total relaxation day.
What do you do on a total relaxation day on Mahe? Eat. Drink. Catch up with old friends and meet the new ones, and start getting the body adjusted to the time change and defeat jetlag as soon as possible. Of course, I took it a step further and doctored up some of my dudes backpacks starting with a peacock bass on Caio’s.
That’s all for now. At 9 AM tomorrow we’ll catch that charter and should arrive at Farquhar around 11 AM. After orientation and lunch, the guide staff we work with will get everyone’s tackle set up and we’ll spend the afternoon dabbling with some fishing on our own. The real fishing starts Thursday.
I’ve been told we have internet but its marginal at best. What this means is the blog reports will trickle out between now and March 26. But they will come full on with stories and photos. Stay tuned. This should be a good one!

So far so good!
I have been wondering about the biological clock. Once a person gets used to there, it must be awkward coming home and having to internally adjust back.
Because you’re having fun and you’re going to catch some fish that you know I want to catch, I’m going to sit out on my back deck, in the snow, and toast your trip with a glass of cognac and a fine cigar.
Tight lines!
Jeff,
Best of luck – catch a lot of fish!

Jeff –
Slay! I’ve got a trip booked to Cosmo in Mar ’26. Can’t wait to see how your next two weeks go! Enjoy
Thanks everyone. Should be a great trip!
