Our 2025 Wisconsin Fishing Licenses Finally Get Some Use

fly-fishingSince September 15th 2024 I have been away from home almost constantly.  Lots of fishing travels and a ton of speaking engagements ranging from The Fly Fishing Show tour to a heap of one night gigs including ten days ago in the Phoenix area and continuing on next week in Oregon.  Presently I’m home for eight days and I want a taste of Wisconsin so bad I can’t explain.  Granny and I took a slow drive up to on Lake Superior and bought our 2025 season licenses at Anglers All and put them to use.

fly-fishingToday was nothing more than a Chequamegon Bay dock tour.  All it entails is stopping at many of the docks from Ashland, WI to Bayfield and making 15 to 30 minutes of casts then moving on.  Our hopeful targets were huge brown trout or perhaps a coho salmon for Granny’s new smoker.  But unfortunately, the mighty freshwater ocean isn’t ready for action.  The ice literally left a week ago and the icy waters don’t yet have the spring bite in force.

fly-fishingRegardless of the numerous unsuccessful casts, it was a wonderful day.  The drive through the budding Great Northwoods and the chill of the wind off Lake Superior were refreshing.  Its good to be home for a few days!
