As we took our first two sips of coffee Granny and I and gazed around the neighborhood. It was only 6:15 AM. The temperature was already 73° and not an ounce of wind. It was too hard to resist a trip to our nearby lake. The same lake we fished on the 4th of July. In less than ten minutes we were at the boat ramp.
Just like on the 4th, I packed quick. A 4-weight and a 5 with floating lines. A bass popper on the 5 and a Chernobyl concoction on the 4. We took a trip over to the nearest lily pads and soon the bass popper met up with this nice bluegill.
Though things started quick, that was nearly it. We fished for about two hours. It was casual because we mixed in finishing our coffee and also had breakfast. But the fly was in the water enough we should have caught more. Yet our only other fish was this chunky little largemouth bass. By 9 AM it was so hot we packed it in. Get out whenever you can!
Great advice!
