We Are the Champions My Friends!

We Are the Champions My Friends!

I’m alive.  Since I started the blog in October of 2009 I have never gone so far behind in my daily fishing stories.  And even so, my routine is to pick up right where I left off once there’s time, which in this case would be an entry for July 12.  And it will come. ...

Team USA Struggles but Holds First Place

We, Team USA woke up today in first place in the World Masters Fly Fishing Championships with room to spare.  But we were determined to get out there in Session 4 and kick butt and grow a stronger lead.  But we felt stress – I certainly did.  And I know this team. ...

Unexpected Hurdles in Session 2 – the Chiese River

In 2003 I was on Team USA at one of the biggest World Championships.  It was in Jaca, Spain.  A rare thing happened for me.  All five of my sessions went nearly flawless despite some of the most difficult conditions and wisest wild brown trout in the history of the...

The Final Day of Practice for the Master’s

It wouldn’t have hurt to have spent the final day of World Masters Fly Fishing practice organizing our stuff rather than fishing.  At least Pete and I that is, being today was our eighth fishing day in a row.  Quite frankly, we’re a little worn out.  Our tippet, fly...

The Hottest Wader Day of My Life

Today was team practice on the feared Noce River.  I say feared because our Italian guide Stefano thinks this river will blank many contestants in the World Master’s Fly Fishing Championships next week.  A blank and your team is in trouble.  With that in mind, we all...

Good Fishing Times in Italy

We had a full team practice today.  We split up a little only because in Italy they don’t allow more than three anglers on a piece of water at the same time but for the most part we hung together.  Pete and I watched a lot to give the new arrival teammates more time...

The First Day of Practice

We got in so late last night it was weird waking up.  When I first opened my eyes I didn’t know where the heck I was.  Then came a deep snore from Pete in the bed next to me and it dawned on me, we are here in Madonna di Campiglio, Italy for a week of practice before...

Welcome to the Blog of Jeff Currier!

Contact Jeff

I started fly fishing at age 7 in the lakes and ponds of New England cutting my teeth on various sunfish, bass, crappie and stocked trout. I went to Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin, where I graduated with a Naturalist Degree while I discovered new fishing opportunities for pike, muskellunge, walleyes and various salmonids found in Lake Superior and its tributaries.

From there I headed west to work a few years in the Yellowstone region to simply work as much as most people fish and fish as much as most people work. I did just that, only it lasted over 20 years working at the Jack Dennis Fly Shop in Jackson, WY where I departed in 2009. Now it’s time to work for "The Man", working for myself that is.

I pursue my love to paint fish, lecture on every aspect of fly fishing you can imagine and host a few trips to some of the most exotic places you can think of. My ultimate goal is to catch as many species of fish on fly possible from freshwater to saltwater, throughout the world. I presently have taken over 440 species from over 60 countries!
