A Few Casts Before the Flight Home

My flight home didn’t leave Atlanta today until 2 pm.  This meant there was time for a few casts early this morning.  Lucky for Michael and I, Drew Friedrich, guide and shop employee for Cohutta Fishing, invited us to join him before sunrise from his parents property on the Etowah River in Cartersville, Georgia.

Our target was striped bass.  There’s a deep hole in front of Drews parents house.  Stripers migrating upstream gather here because it’s such a nice spot.  Drew predicted we’d either get five or none.  There’s no in between.  The fish are either there or not.

You can’t win all the time.  While Michael shot video from his drone Drew and I launched casts for about 20 minutes.  While it was fun to exercise the arms on such a beautiful morning, the stripers weren’t there.

It was a great trip to Georgia.  But today started at 5 am Eastern time in Georgia and just ended at 1 am Mountain time in Victor, Idaho.  I am toast!  Tomorrow I’ll catch up on life then Tuesday its right back to the east.  Stay tuned for ten days of New Hampshire fishing adventures starting Wednesday.  Keep right on a movin!
