Jeff Currier's Artwork

At the Denver Sportsmen’s show several years ago I ran into my good friend Jeff Currier. He was working on a watercolor. I knew Jeff was talented; however I did not know that he was a gifted artist. He was applying the final spots on a Snake River Cutthroat that was the best trout painting I had ever seen. I begged him to sell it to me, and he did but with a look on his face like, “I can actually sell my paintings?” Since that day I have commissioned Jeff to paint at least 15 more fish. The paintings are as good as it gets. I could not be more pleased, and they make my fishing room a real work of art.

Jeff Currier at Jack Dennis Sports, Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Since 1968, Jack Dennis Sports has been the premier fly shop and guide service in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. At Jack Dennis their mission is to provide the finest quality fly fishing products, guides and service. Boasting a combination of 20 year veteran employees and guides, as well as over 1250 fly patterns, they have what you need. And if they don’t have the fly you want, one of their professional tiers will take care of any of your custom fly requests.

Over two decades ago, in 1987, Jeff Currier a mere twenty one years old arrived at the front door of Jack Dennis Sports to begin a career that evolved to manager of the fly shop. Even at this young age, Jeff's main priority and driving force was what else? Finding the precious time to go fishing, before and after work! Little did Jack Dennis know at that time, but both men were about to forge a rewarding and life long relationship that remains vibrant to this day. Working hard and fishing even harder, has been a hallmark of Jeff Currier and that appears to be something that will never change.

During the first few years of his employment at Jack Dennis Sports, Jeff lived the ultimate and enviable life of a troutbum - that is fishing more than working. While maintaining this fancy-free life, he quickly took on more and more responsibilities at shop. At the same time, he learned that he got nearly as much joy in helping others catch fish as he did himself. Jeff progressed onwards to teach fly fishing, guide and help manage the shop. In 1990 his dedication and hard work was rewarded when he was promoted as the new manager of the fly shop where Jeff, since his first day at Jack Dennis Sports, has lived what anyone would consider the anglers dream. What Jeff loves most is working with his legions of customers, meeting new and fascinating people nearly everyday and enjoying opportunities to flyfish the world. Who could ask for anything more in life?

Well, the answer is Jeff. In August 2009, Jeff shocked the Jackson Hole community and caught the attention of fly fishers worldwide when he announced he would be moving on at the end of the season. On October 25th, 2009 came the end of an era at the Jack Dennis Fly Shop. Jeff walked out the back door of the shop to take on the world on his own. Today he continues his career in fly fishing but now through his gorgeous fish art, fly fishing presentations, writing, hosting trips and consulting on every fly fishing subject imagineable. Although he misses the day to day life with fellow employees, he really misses the twenty three years of helping customers that became such good friends catch fish. Fortunately Jeff remains readily available and eagerly continues to help fly fishers throughout the world succeed at their fishing. Jeff loves nothing better than hearing from old friends and customers alike. Send him an email at jeff_currier@hotmail.com or check out his schedule and visit him at one of the many fly fishing shows that he is featured at. All the best to Jeff and his continued success in the fly fishing world!
